Kenmare & Pansey Purple

Kenmare & Pansey Purple

Posted by Paula Marron on

There is a particular kind of stillness in Kenmare.

Not silence — but a softened rhythm. The way the light settles over the water & hills. The way the air feels fresh even in summer. The way colour reveals itself slowly, if you’re paying attention.

Last summer, walking through shoreline just outside town, we were reminded of that pace. The sky was moody, the grass impossibly green, and the air carried that familiar Irish chill — the kind that calls for cashmere even in June. Wrapped in knitwear, hot water bottle in hand, it felt almost humorous. Summer, but grounded. Warmth, but gentle.

And then we noticed the purple.

Small blooms scattered quietly through the grass. Not curated. Not dramatic. Just present. A soft but certain contrast against the green landscape.

That moment became Pansey Purple in SS26.

Not chosen from a trend report.
Not selected from a digital swatch.
But found — in the wild.

Pansey Purple carries that same energy. It isn’t loud. It doesn’t demand attention. It settles into a look with quiet confidence, offering depth against soft greys and fresh greens like Applefool. It is colour as memory. Colour as landscape.

Designing in Ireland means our collections begin outside. In weather. In texture. In the subtle tones that shift under changing light. These references travel with us — from Kerry fields to the hands of artisans in Nepal, where each piece is carefully hand-knitted using the finest yarns.

There is something grounding about wearing a colour that was first felt in nature. Something steady about knowing it began in a real place, in real air, in a real moment.

Kenmare reminded us that beauty does not rush.
And neither do we.

Pansey Purple is our way of carrying that quiet bloom forward — a reminder that even in stillness, there is life.

Warmest,

CASTANEA cashmere
